What is Dental Implant?
The dental implant is a titanium-containing material placed in the jawbone, similar to the tooth root, and is a technology that has been applied for about 50 years, allowing us to make prosthesis without touching the natural teeth in case of missing teeth. Fixed prostheses can be made with dental implants, especially in patients using removable prostheses. Similarly, it can be applied as an important alternative to bridge prostheses made by cutting and reducing the natural teeth, as it does not require the teeth to be cut.
After the dental implant is placed in the jawbone, an average of 3 months is expected for it to fuse with the bone. At the end of this period, permanent prostheses can be made within 2-3 weeks. Temporary prostheses can be applied within a few days immediately after the placement of the implants in patients who are systemically healthy, have sufficient bone levels, and do not have factors such as diabetes, smoking, gum disease.
In order to increase the success of implants in patients with health problems such as gum disease, heavy smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, first of all, gingival treatments should be performed and the health status should be controlled.
Advanced Surgical Treatments
In order for dental implants to be applied, in addition to your general health and oral health, your jaw bones must be of sufficient thickness, width and quality. As a result of the sagging of the cavities called sinuses in the upper molar region, which is usually lost at an early age, the bone height decreases.
In such cases, it is recommended to wait for 6 months by performing bone powder (bone graft) and covering (membrane) applications, and then to make dental implants when sufficient bone levels are obtained.
In our polyclinic, implants with different characteristics according to the patient’s needs and oral condition are applied by our specialists using advanced technology devices in a separate local operating room.
